摘要

The Digital Economy has added new momentum to the long-term development of Trade in Services. Based on the panel data of China’s provinces from 2011 to 2022, this paper studies the effect of the digital economy on trade in services empirically. Research shows that the digital economy has promoted the development of trade in services, and this effect is still evident after correcting for endogeneity and carrying out other checks. Based on the mechanism analysis, the two main ways that the digital economy promotes trade in services are changing the structure of industry and developing new high-quality productive forces. Based on the results of the heterogeneity test, there is a positive effect that is relatively stronger in the eastern coastal area and developed economically. Research has found that the effect of the digital economy on trade in services is non-linear and different at different levels of new quality productive forces. To promote the development of cross-border and regional trade in services, it is necessary to accelerate the construction of a digital economy infrastructure system, speed up industrial upgrading to promote the emergence of new competitive advantages, prioritise the development of new high-quality productive forces as an innovation engine, and implement regionally differentiated joint construction plans.
